Hire A Personal Chef for Your Marriage Proposal Dinner

July 6, 2010

Have you ever thought of hiring a personal chef for the occasion, but gave up the idea because you feared it would be too expensive?

Picture you and your girlfriend having a romantic dinner, away from noisy restaurant crowds, with a bottle of champagne (not just sparkling wine, which is not made in Champagne area in France), savoring a sumptuous dinner for two. You want to make her feel like a princess before you pop that all-important question, “Will you marry me?”

Finding a qualified personal chef is as simple as checking with the USPCA (United States Personal Chef Association), which can provide you with general information on personal chefs as well as a directory of USPCA members in your area.

USPCA Chef from PA Visits DC to Help Fight Childhood Obesity

June 4, 2010

A USPCA personal chef from Bucks County is headed to Washington D.C. this weekend to team up with the first lady in an effort to put an end childhood obesity.

Chefs from across the country will travel to nation’s capital for a two-day crash course on First Lady Michelle Obama's all volunteer project, "Chefs move to Schools". The program pairs personal chefs with schools in an effort to teach kids about eating healthy.

Chef Karen McGinn is just one of more than 100 USPCA personal chefs volunteering their time and expertise in this national campaign.

USPCA invited to the White House

May 25, 2010

Recently White House chef Sam Kass announced a new initiative, Chefs Move to Schools. USPCA was invited to join the effort and is now working closely with the White House to facilitate engagement by chefs and food educators around the country.

The White House will hold a Chefs Move to Schools Launch Event on June 4th.

The event will be a large-scale gathering on the White House South Lawn. First Lady Michelle Obama will speak at the event. USPCA chefs from across the country have signed up to provide their services, and many will travel to Washington DC to be part of the official launch.

Further details about this campaign may be viewed at: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/05/13/chefs-move-schools or through www.LetsMove.gov.

Since the groundbreaking of the White House Kitchen Garden more than a year ago, local students have spent time on the South Lawn of the White House planting seeds, harvesting vegetables and learning about health and nutrition along the way. Through the garden, the First Lady started a discussion on the role food plays in living a healthy life. The discussion grew into the Let's Move! campaign and like the garden - we just keep on growing.

Today, I'm excited to announce the "Chefs Move to Schools" program - an opportunity for chefs around the country to adopt a local school to help solve the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation. In the words of the Mrs. Obama:

"We are going to need everyone's time and talent to solve the childhood obesity epidemic and our Nation's chefs have tremendous power as leaders on this issue because of their deep knowledge of food and nutrition and their standing in the community. I want to thank them for joining the Let's Move! Campaign".

"Chefs Move to Schools" will pair chefs with schools in their communities to bring fun to fruits and vegetables, and teach kids about food, nutrition and cooking in an engaging way. And by working with school food service employees, administrators and teachers -- chefs can help deliver these messages from the cafeteria to the classroom
